SHAPE / DESIGN
During the ‘70’s it was hard to find a more influential Australian surfer/shaper in Hawaii than Terry Fitzgerald. His Sunset Guns introduced concaves, spiral vees and wings in well-documented sessions epitomising the style and speed that was the short board revolution. The board’s roots are in the first 6’10 ‘wing’ round-tail proto-type and first Hot Buttered Flyer launched at Narrabeen’s Carpark Rights, then taken to the world stage at Sunset, Makaha and Laniakea. As the weapon of choice for ‘Mr Body Torque’, the gun version was pure speed with the added ability to break lines after long fades and bottom turns.
FINISH & SPRAYS
Just as TF has shaped this board as an expression of shaping freedom, on the day, Martyn has airbrushed and sprayed accordingly. Martyn’s colour interpretation is created with the same freedom of expression. Both Terry and Martyn basically did what they wanted, for their own enjoyment.
MURAL: Designed, air-brushed and expressing individual flare
FADE: Rails and deck are sprayed to highlight and compliment the mural bottom.
FINISH: Gloss and polished to accentuate colour and vibrancy.
For the successful bidder: delivery to you is at your cost, and yes, we will assist with best quote possible and substantive packaging.
SUNSET GUN - THE LOVED ONE
“Martyn and I make surfboards for enjoyment, satisfying our own shaping and spraying whims producing surfboards that we love. We would like these boards to be paddled out and be set free to peel eyelids back and put smiles on faces.”
“The board shown, is the result of a couple of mis-pent weeks, making what we wanted to make. This board is for auction to the highest bidder, and for your surfing enjoyment.”
